Why Choose Carefully? |
A wedding photographer does more tha just take photos. They are a very important part of your wedding day. They will help you with planning your day, giving you guidance on timing, procedure and even important details others may miss. They can be a great support throughout the day as well (after all they spend more time with you than any other service provider on the day). |

How can I make sure I choose the right one? |
There a number of factors you need to consider: Style and Work You need to love the work and style of the photographer. Most photographers have a style they develop and refine. This important to get the best results from the day. So select a photographer to produces the style of work that really suits your personality. You also need to see their work, the albums and other products they produce, so that you get a good feel for the quality that they can deliver for you. Personality You are going to spend a large part of you wedding day with the photographer, so its really important that you feel comfortable and relaxed around them. If you're comfortable on the day, the lens captures the story in a very natural way. For these reasons - You need to visit each photographer on your short list in person. You cannot select a photographer simply off a brochure, an email and especially not just off a price-list. |

Are all wedding photographers properly qualified? |
Unfortunately, No. Anyone can set themselves up to be a wedding photographer, but do you want to take a chance with your wedding day? It is always advisable to consider their professional status... Are they members of a professional association like the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers (AIPP)? Do they have insurance? Do they professional equipment and have backups just in case? A professional wedding photographer has the skills, experience, knowledge and backup to produce consistent results. They are used to handling dramas that may arise, the adapt to last minute changes in schedules and still maintain their creativity with the demands of limited time. Most professionals have spend years perfecting their art. Is it worth risking your wedding day by using an amateur or 'cheap' photographer? |

Can I get a disc of the images? |
This will vary for different studios, however most professional studios will not provide a disc of full resoultion images for the following reasons: Raw images taken out of the camera require development work and enhancement to bring them properly to life. They are of no use to the consumer. Final images that are properly post-produced need to be reproduced by print labs and product suppliers that will produce the work as it should be seen (properly callibrated to the Studio equipment). This provides the Studio with quality control over its products. After all our entire reputation as a Studio rests on the visual art we produce. If others have access to the high resolution files then we lose control over the final product which could have a damaging affect on our business. The imges themselves could be further enhanced or manipulated which again takes away from our Studio style and image. Images for Re-prints are sometimes offered as a compromise. These images have a limited resolution suitable for prints up to a nominated size (e.g. 6"x4") but cannot be used for enlargements. This keeps the type of image down to a "snap shot" size and may less impact on a Studio's reputation. |
